The district is looking at raising the high school graduation requirements for SCUSD students. Currently over 50% of high school graduates from SCUSD schools require remediation classes at CSUS and UC colleges. In accordance with the Strategic Plan, Pillar 1, College and Career Ready Students, students currently in the 5th grade may be required to meet more rigorous and rob…ust academic requirements in order to graduate.

The district is looking for parent, community, and teacher representation for 2 college and career readiness committees. The first committe is the Graduate Profile Committee. This group will develop grade-band benchmarks for the domains and indicators of the graduate profile. The committee will also determine how student progress towards the indicators will be determined and measured.

The second committee is the Graduation Requirements Infrastructure Committee. This group will determine the infrastructure of supports needed to ensure that the graduating class of 2020 and beyond can successfully meet the proposed graduation requirements.
